It is much safer to use than sand as it is much less abrasive and less likely to harbor bacteria. Desert blend is a sand substitute developed for desert-dwelling reptiles. Made from ground english walnut shells, it provides an attractive terrarium bedding. If ingested, desert blend will pass easily through your reptile's digestive system. 100% natural ground English walnut shell. Its lighter in weight than old fashioned sand, and dust free for a healthier home environment. Wont scratch cage glass.
