HIYA! I'm in the desert, didja notice? [
]
Sorry about your situation. My horse farm neighbors had a baby w/strangles and they
retty much ignored it and it want away. That is, they left baby w/herd. I guess the germ (or whatever it is) can lay dormant in pastures awhile and be picked up later. That doesn't mean anyone would WANT that disgusting condition for their horse.
One thing, if your horse has it and fights it off, you might as well consider him innoculated.
ALWAYS remember it's a live virus vaccine and you do NOT want to breathe any of it as your horse gets it sprayed up the nose and it comes out in a sneeze fast. Airborne particles can get in eyes, etc and cause SEVERE problems in people. Low immunity issues need to NOT even be in the barn while it's being done!
