Shortening stirrups?

• RanchPrincess Posted : 8/30/2009 4:34:35 PM Hi all. I'm a beginner rider, and I need to know how to shorten my stirrups. They're all the way up, but they're still too long. I have to basically stand on my tip toes to reach them, and I have no leverage that way. Any help is greatly appreciated. • hunterseat Posted : 8/30/2009 11:43:26 PM I'm guessing you ride western. [] (I'm English) Sounds like you need shorter stirrup thingies.  (they'd be stirrup leathers if you rode English)  OR a hole punch!!  Is there someone who can help you where you ride? • trainer101 Posted : 8/30/2009 11:44:31 PM Hi, welcome to the forum by the way.   If they are already in the top hole check with your local tack store and see if there is enough room to punch more holes for you.  If the fenders are made a certain way there may not be enough room to do this and new fenders can be put on the saddle.    Sorry we are talking about a western saddle right?  LOL  Anyway that is what I would try.
