Board Termination Notice
  • I'm not sure if this belongs here, I'm new so please forgive me. I am leaving my current barn because the BO is not an organized person. She claims I owe her for a show we haven't gone to, and a past show that is paid in full. My horse isn't receiving enough water and I don't feel the care at this barn is the best. I am hopefully leaving Mid August. When should I give my notice? I plan on giving her a letter with my board. I'd like to think that she would still treat my horse well, however, it has crossed my mind that she won't. The place I'm moving too is completely full until Mid August when people leave.. Any ideas? Help.
  • What a rotten situation. I think what I would do is go see my horse every day and take care of his needs best I could even if I'm paying full board. I know you don't owe her but I think I'd still say "look, this isn't the way I want things to be. We disagree but I'm willing to help out around here a little if you need me". She'd probably never take you up on it but still you'd be even more able to keep an eye out for your boy.  Go with your gut feeling. It's there for a reason. Glad you found another place. Hang in there.

OH I don't know what protocol is for giving notice on board.  sorry
  • How difficult...... glad I don't have to board my horses.  Do you have a friend at the barn who can help keep an eye on things for you if you can't make it to the barn every day?

If you have a boarding contract it probably says how much notice you have to give, probably 30 days.

    Hang in there, keep receipts!
