Stagecoach Trails camping trip

Stagecoach Trails camping trip
  • Here are some pictures from my camping trip last week.  We were in between Julian and the Anza-Borrego desert, inland from San Diego.  It was beautiful, a different kind of beautiful.  Cody kept hoping he could eat the cats claw cactus and ended up poking his nose over and over..... except for the first night when we arrived and had terrible winds kicking up sand and it was very cold, we had perfect weather :)  The desert wildflowers are just starting to bloom and there was such a stillness about the whole place.

Cody was sure there was something yummy down there!

    Cactus in bloom

Amazing how the little wildflowers survive

This is the end of a dead yucca stalk but looks surprisingly like a skull!

The trails were nice and sandy, you just had to watch out for jumping cholla cactus!

    Love that spotty pony butt!

As I always say, one of the best views in the world!

Ocotillo in bloom, the tips look like swooping swallows to me.

  • Nice! You and Cody are my favorites!
  • Great pictures, Dana. I envy those of you who get to ride year-round.
  • I thought the pictures looked familiar!! Sadly I never was able to take my horse and ride there. We used to live in Ramona. Love the pictures, thank you for posting them. Brings back memories.
  • Personally, I detest the desert.  My wife however, loved it.  She was especially fond of the area around Mormon Pass.  Robin truely loved the Anza Borrego.  Not for me though.  The blooms in the spring are nice, however, the window is so very narrow, one can plan a weekend and miss them by a day.  Looks like your timing was just perfect, Dana !  Bring Cody up here and he'll find all kinds of yummy things!  Or even around Joyce's 'neck of the woods.'

Beautiful pictures.  Thanks for sharing the day with us!
