Just got my power and phone back after five days of doing without. Camping out in the house, sponge baths, cooking on the wood stove, four wheeling out to the main highway, no mail delivery for four days, trees down, fences, gates and shelters smashed either from trees falling or the weight of the snow. My place looks like a disaster area. When the power did come back on, the well started up, and then came the leaks from the burst pipes. So I am still waiting for my hot shower! Makes you appreciate electricity! I have a generator, but it is a pull start which I don't seem to have the strength to pull hard enough to make it start. Had to wait for my son to come back from his girlfriend's on Wed. to get it going. Monday morning (12-7) it was 7 degrees and Tuesday it was 9 degrees.
Then to top it all off, yesterday I called my mother to let her know that I was ok and the power was back on...she started in on me about getting rid of the horses as they are "too much work" / "too expensive" and that now that I am getting older I should get out of horses. After five days of roughing it...I didn't need to hear that! My family has never been understanding of my love for horses.
Yesterday fog and rain, today more of the same with wind added. At least the snow is melting. Will post pics when I have the time to put them on the computer. Counting my blessings....
