Wednesday is open mic night with the house band. I've been trying to figure out a song for him. I really like Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe (without the whole "guitar solo with his teeth" part) You have to get past the first few seconds of this for the song. He's limited now on his range and sounds best at a lower octave. But he can do a falsetto no sweat. If anyone has any suggestions.... I was looking at Allman Brothers, too. Someone suggested some Clapton. It has to be blues/old rock sorta stuff. PLEEEZE let me know if you think of anything to check out!!! He works really hard on his performances. He's not too familiar with any of these songs so.... (no Seger)

The video brings back the days of my youth when I lived in the Bay area.

I bet they never imagined I'd grow up to be a horse rancher back then.

Let's see, how about some Credence Clearwater, or who does "Drift Away-Gimmed the beat, boys and free my soul, I wanna get lost in your rock-n-roll......" or what's that song someone country just redid........ Life is a highway-by Rascal Flats. If he really wants to do a crooner kind of song, what about "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. One of my favorites ':)'

Hmmmm, I'll keep thinking on it.

Some great suggestions there.

But my alllllllllll time favorite song is Bob Seeger, "Turn the page". Boy might be familiar with Metallica's redo of it which is awesome too.

I will keep my mind working on something.

I really love that Sending me Angels song! I think he's settled on Hey Joe. The version I posted the link to, I think Jimi was into the 'ludes that night. But boy doesn't know any of these - I was looking at Stormy Monday, too. He's really never listened to any of this stuff. He's going to have to learn the song, the style... plus with a live band might be a challenge. I think he's up to it.
