yesterday. Tessa had her first visit since coming here in June with an Equine Dentist. A new one to me but came highly recommended by a trusted friend and She was right, He is a good dentist and a pleasant calm visitor to my barn. He was firm but gentle with Tessa. It seems she has a top molar on Each side of her mouth that is split from front to back...both sides are rooted. Not decayed. He cleaned out the accumulated cuds and she was good with that..good news...none of it was rotten. He said she is eating well, has been gaining weight since she came and to keep track of it but , unless she has an issue, wait 6 months to a year to have her done again. Said if we can keep the teeth, it would be better. If they need to come out, he wants a vet here. Probably since these root to the nasal cavities.
She wanted her dinner when he left and she wanted breakfast this morning so all seems well. I knew something was off in her face but never guessed two broken teeth...now, how did this happen I wonder. He opined that it probably happened when she was 2 or 3.
Now that that is done, guess I should plan a trip to the feed mill and the pet food factory.
Have a great day all.
