Wow, Dixie! That's really good! I miss you and I started reading "so this is where she's been! She's got herself a jarhead!" but this might be about someone else. No kids, yet, right?

Moms AND Dads are getting sent over. Having been a Marine I can appreciate this even more.

Thanks hunt! lol No I don't have myself a Jarhead -yet-
Though I have wanted to join the Marines since I was 8,and its my main plan after highschool.
NO KIDS...EVER...lol I can't handle whining and crying and babysitting is more than enough for me!

Hmmm.... any idea what you'll do in the Marines? AND just because there's a bonus doesn't mean it's the best job for you! Try to do something that aligns with your interest AND you can do when you finish. Journalism?

Aviation or MP,my grandad was a Marine,my cousin was in the Airforce,my other grandad was in the Airforce,my dad is a cop and I've wanted to be a Marine for some time,like I said.

Okay. I was in Marine Aviation. I taught it, actually, for a few years. Since the Marines fall under the Dept of the Navy they go by Naval Aviation standards. May I suggest NOT picking Ejection Seats? Not a lot of call for them on the outside! [ ':D'

] BUT if you go avionics you can get a jobs on the outside without having to get your A & P license. If you go Jet Shop you'll pretty much have the Powerplants part of the A & P. If you go Metal Shop, you'll have the Airframes part of the A & P. On the outside you'd have to have your A & P so you'd be halfway there. Most of the Aviation schools are in Pensacola FL now. One great job is the guys who fix the Air traffic control equipment. It's a really long school but TALK ABOUT MONEY on the outside! Have you taken your ASVAB's yet? Don't go Aviation Ordinance. Crash Crew is sort of physically intense. Cops? I wish you wouldn't. [ ':o'

Okay. I've run on long enough. I'm assuming you'll be starting off enlisted, right? Cuz you can work on college real easy in there and go for a commission. It's the only way the Marines will treat you good.

I really haven't made up my mind yet,yeah I'd start off enlisted. I was leaning more ,like you said,Fixing Air Traffic Control Equipment,It may sound insane,and it is,but i want physically intense,I guess it fits my personality.

Not insane at all! The Marines can pull more out of you than you knew you had! It's awesome! I regret getting out, honestly. Just stay focused. It's easy to lose focus with all those little onion heads around. [ ':D'

Practice doing everything you do in as little time as possible! And practice standing very still and NOT laughing! Make someone yell up in your face and you keep a straight face! Or you will be SOOO sorry!

OH GOOD! My son said basic was nothing since I'd yelled at him so much. [8|] I don't think it's going to take more than a day for you to learn how not to laugh! Anyway, let me know when you go and I'll send you some cookies. The DI's love that!
