So it's pretty clear that my family isn't going to be able to afford a "real" horse for me any time soon... So I thought - why not minis? We live on 1.3 acres, mostly hilly but with a few flat parts. I'm experienced with horses (8 years of riding, leasing, etc) and I have two younger sisters (11 and 7) who are very excited about the idea. However, my parents are concerned about the cost, the housing (what is a good way to keep minis?) and the work required. And are they good for teaching horse ownership? We do live in California and don't get snow, but rain is common, gets to about 35 degrees at the lowest in winter. So what would be some good housing options? There is plenty of advice out there about feeding, vet care, but anything is accepted. Thanks!!!
