Horse Waterer opinions?

Horse Waterer opinions?
  • I'm looking into purchasing a couple automatic horse waterers.  Any strong opinions on what the best options would be?  I want something that will be reliable.
  • My cheap-o solution is get a trough that isn't too big (for ease of cleaning) and set up an automatic valve that a water hose screws into. That's  not good for freezing weather, though. And you have to have a water source handy AND you want to be able to monitor it in case you spring a leak or it jams and the trough goes dry. For the most part i've had good luck with these and they're not but about $10.
  • So with the automatic valve, it replenishes the water once the water falls below a certain level?
  • This is what I'm leaning towards:  http://www.nelsonmfg.com/horse-waterers/700/.  I was thinking the 700-10C model would work the best from an installation standpoint.  I could corner-mount them in adjacent stalls to share a waterline.  Anyone else use Nelson?  Just curious how they hold up before I invest.  Thanks.
  • Hi Tuffy, if you haven't made your choice yet, I'd suggest you check out our Cobett waterers. They have a wide open drinking area, easy access to the plumbing and require no electricity to heat. You can check them out athttp://www.cobett.com
