    Unveiled today is the new luxury social and sporting club the Shanghai Premier Club, situated in the green lands and historic water villages near HuaQiao, just a 30 mins drive from the HongQiao Hub and easy access from every part of Shanghai.
    The Shanghai Premier Club provides a ‘second home#%92 for those who most appreciate the activities and social context of sophisticated living; intertwining the finest activities and products of East & West a colorful tapestry that provides excitement & entertainment, nourishes the spirit and soul and celebrates   our culture and heritage.
    The Premier Club reintroduces the two most exciting and sophisticated horse sports to Shanghai; Horse Racing and Polo, both with the facilities and the level of professional management that ensures their recognition and credibility globally whilst celebrating our unique proud heritage and culture in horse sports; after-all China is the birth-place of polo.
    Horse Racing
    Shanghai Premier Club will host monthly Horse Races open to registered thorough-bred horses from across China on the 1650m x 30m turf track, featuring a 15 horse starting gate and electronic and photo finish timer, with live feed LED screen.
    o   Club patrons can pitch their horses against one another to see in the race to the finish who will be faster.
    o   Shanghai Premier Club also provides a full training base for race horses complete with veterinary support
    Polo Activities
    Each weekend, through-out the main season there is professional grade match polo; providing exciting entertainment for members of the club and the possibility for patrons to pitch their team against a rival. Polo is a sport of strategy as well as the skill and courage on the field so team owners have an important role in creating victory.
    o   The two full sized fields with underground irrigation have been specially designed to ensure high quality playing surface through-out the year, in wet and dry conditions.  There will also be fluid light for night time game, allowing long playing time.
    o   The polo Academy will provide the structure for the development of a strong national China team through leveraging the foreign professionals and regular and tournament matches.
     
    Equestrian Department
    The club is offering a well facilitated ridding department, with two covered arena for ridding lesson, full size international competition ground, which enable regular good standard of dressage and show jumping competition to be held.  With qualified instructor at site offering all level of riding lesson; there also will be a therapeutic riding services, which operated by experience Japanese institution.
    The 5,000 sqm of club-house facilities firmly place the emphasis on sophisticated lifestyle pursuits and intertwine East & West; a school or Etiquette and Personal Image Management from UK as well as French Anti-Aging secrets combine with programs in Traditional Medicines, Tai Chi, Meditational Yoga and Calligraphy as well as ballroom and Jazz dance.
    The over 3,000 sqm retail space is divided into small boutique style stores around a delightful Italian style piazza; showcasing famous global luxury brands along side collections from emergent local fashion and jewelry designers. In contrast the delightful Japanese gardens provide a private area of sanctuary making the most of the peaceful scenery and set beside the gently flowing river.
    Larger audiences can be accommodated in the grandstand area and members of the public are also welcome to the retail piazza and the water-sports activities center; leaving the clubhouse and associated amenities such as the spa, lounge and meeting areas, F&B, gym & pool for the private enjoyment of club members.  For a lucky few, the members of the ‘Owners Club#%92 there is access to the most private and exclusive areas of the clubhouse including guest suites and ‘Owners Lounge#%92.
    The Shanghai Premier Club is an over US$30 million investment being led by Rachel Wyatt and a group of local successful business lady investors Ms Linda Lee,  together with technical partners from UK, Italy and Australia. The Shanghai Premier Club is the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] major club that Rachel and her team have invested in and established China, the first being Nine Dragons Hills Polo Club.

    The inaugural tournament, the Shanghai Polo Open 2011, will be held at the Shanghai Premier Club from 28[SUP]th[/SUP] May 2011. The final of this tournament will be at the Shanghai City Polo event on 5[SUP]th[/SUP] June. Six teams, with players from China and around the world are expected to compete in the competition held at the 16-18 goal level. The full clubhouse facilities of the Shanghai Premier Club will open in 2012.

  • Nicely written article!  This sounds like an amazing place!  I hope the U.S. has some polo players over there.  It would be a long way to ship a string of polo ponies!!
