What is a P.R.E.??
  • Recently came across an ad for a "classic imported Spanish P.R.E.  mare" and another one for a "Andalusian (PRE) colt and was curious as to what " PRE" stood for.
  • A PRE is an Andalusian that is registered with the Spanish studbook in Spain. When you see a horse that is "revised" it means that the Andalusian that was registered in an outside registry was inspected and passed to be registered with the Spanish studbook.

PRE stands for pura raza EspaƱola which means pure Spanish race. Which doesn't necessarily mean that it is the same horse as the Romans rode or what came over on the Spanish galleons 500 years ago as history as well as certain conformation points prove this to be false. That is just what they are called. ':)'
  • Interesting!  Thank you!
