Hiyaa, basically because of the snowy weather, ponys have been out of work+ when I started the walking work with one of the pnoys (other in stable) she rolled, with me+ all of her tack still on! Luckily I jumped off and landed on my feet, but VERY dangerous! :/ I was thinking something could of been bothering her? - stomoch ache? But as soon as her tack came off (I let her get away with it- how stupid of me:$) she galloped round the field, tail in the air and everything!
Do you think she will try rolling again when I next take her out for a ride? Scaredd now:$ - Shes usally an angel to ride...
&What can I do to prevent?
Do you think leaving other horse in stable + not taking her with us could be the answer?!

Hi welcome to the forum.

I think she most likely will try again since the last time the tack came off. If you can feel her start to drop then use that against her. When you feel her start to think about it get her in a circle and move her feet. A brisk trot works great. If you have taught her how to yield her hindquarters then you can tip her nose and make her keep yeilding her hindquarters first one way then the other.

Had a horse once that kept trying to laydown with me because she knew where we were and that it was going to be a long ride. So each time she dropped to her knees I stepped off and since she had done it before I had a long lead rope on the rope halter that I had left under the bridle. I would then proceed to work her hinny off from the ground till she realized that just walking off was sooo much easier than constently laying down then having to really work. Luckily she was a short little mare. LOL

Been there! The first time my little mare dropped to her knees I piled off. I was afraid she had a problem. Didn't take long to figure out I was being hoodwinked. Now when that nose goes for the ground with more intent than to sniff or look at something, we get moving.
Sneaky rascals, those horses.
