horse bit used with halter and lead rope

We were at a horse sale recently and noticed a horse with a round style bit. It had snap hooks on each side, the bar went in the horses mouth and there was a curved piece on top of the nose and under the chin. It basically slide on th horses nose and in its mouth.

Does anyone know where we can find one? or what it is called.

I've seen them too. I asked the vender what it was he said it was an old style of pony bit. It teaches them to work off the nose. I dont know if you can get them online, but I can ask the next time I see him at the horse sale where I live.

both bridles offer you more halter-like control of the nose while also engaging the mouth. The good thing about these is that, when used with a direct rein, the bit will not be 'pulled through' the mouth. Should encourage breaking at the poll and discourage head tossing as bit evasion. I actually would like to add one to my collection sometime soon.
