Trail Riding and Horse Camping in the Northwest..( Oregon & Washington )
  • So, I've been wondering if you have any pictures from the latest Sheep Springs ride?
  • Gee it's been awhile. I camped at Kalama horse camp for 10 days and are getting ready to go back this wednesday for another week. Came home long enough to get hay in. We are clearing trails and getting ready for our annual ' fun ride'. The views of Mt. Saint Helens are spectacular. I'll try to post pic's when I get back. Have'nt had much luck' but I have upgraded my computer, maybe it will be easier now. Hope everyone had a great 4th, (I was riding), and have a great weekend.
  • Hi, there, gallopinghorse! Can't wait to see your pictures! Have fun with your next trip.

  • I was just looking at horse camping in Zion, Utah and saw that you have to feed them the certified weed-free hay a day before you go. How do they know you did it? Where can you buy it?
  • I don't think they can.. I am surprised they didn't say three days before arriving...  I am in Oregon and we buy ours from Coastal Farm and Ranch..but it comes from Idaho...Standlee Hay co.. [quote=danastark]

  • Hmmm, guess I'll have to start asking around and see if anyone carries it. Don't think I've ever seen any hay listed as weed-free.....
  • The weed free hay has a special color of baling twine for one of the strings - yellow and purple, it think. If you're required to feed it, then it's probably available near the area you are going. I think Oregon requires feeding for 3 days before you go into the area. Ole Bean would be the expert on that.
