Tri-Counties Driving Club Memorial Day outing in Cottonwood Ca.
  • Sorry about taking so long to get these pictures done.  It takes considerable time for me to upload pictures to my Picassa account, then the time to build this, etc, etc, etc...   Okay, okay, done whining about Dial-Up.

Our driving club had an outing and campout in Cottonwood for Memorial Day (like the title says[8|]).   We had six people show up with twelve horses and ponies (well... they were actually all ponies, but don't tell the mini-horse people that ).   I had hoped to get a full-sized Hackney there and had to settle for Mary's little stallion, Sunny.  He makes up for a small stature with his beauty and wonderful paces.   Not to mention such a good temprement I have to keep checking to remind myself he's intact, LOL!   We had thought about having a campfire, toasted Marshmallows, etc... but it was so hot and dry, it wasn't a good idea.  We'll just have to schedule earlier in the year next time.

Anyway, here's a few shots of the weekend:

Sunny strutting his stuff, showing me that he keeps to business when at work.  We went out for an hour after this shot was taken and he was a perfect jewell.  In fact, he was so good we went out for another hour several hours later.  Such a good boy, he had (I'm quite sure) just as much fun as I did.

Joyce's little stallion, Firefly.  Another one that is perfectly mannered.  He's a real hoot to watch with Joyce and his little hyper-bike!  I do so wish the fellow who makes them would come up with a horse-sized version.

Firefly does love his Mum.  He'll do anything she asks, kisses, whatever, as long as goodies are included in the bargin!

Of course, I couldn't go without my helpers Annie and Fella.  Fella's helping with the tack here.  Leather needs to be properly chewed to be correctly softened, right?

Out on the trail with Amie and Joyce following along.  I'm driving Amie's little Foundation Shetland, Tuffy, when Paula took this shot.

That's tuffy (pinto) and Benjamin (with Joyce) on the lead.  My two ever-present helpers were keeping me from falling over, of course.   Tuffy had been a pill earlier in the day about dried mud and being anywhere near water.  So, we took him out and made him walk through lots and lots  of dried and wet (horrors, of horrors!) mud.  Then he had to walk around and even in  the scariest pond of all!  I'm so mean...

I'll past more pictures when time allows, if anyone is interested.
  • Looks like so much fun! Love that little spotty-butt boy!!! Glad you got a nice day in the sun with the equines! (and company) Thanks for sharing some great pictures!
  • Thanks for sharing all your wonderful pictures!  Looks like so much fun ':)'  I especially love the picture of you with little Fella lying loyally at your feet like he thinks he's a dog?  So cute ':)'
  • More pictures?  OF COURSE!!!  l love seeing your driving critters and buddies.  Say, didn't you drive a team of goats last summer?

    Sunny does, indeed, look super.
