I've never had one myself, but my mother did many years ago.... she said it was just fine and didn't bother her at all. I think they have you lie flat after it is finished, altho I may be wrong, I've been out of the medical loop for a few years now (I used to work in a hospital). If you think you may want a sedative, talk to your doctor about that beforehand, sometimes people can be mildly sedated during the procedure, as well as a local anesthetic where they insert the needle. I'm always a bit worked up about procedures at times, so any time I can get a sedative, lol, I ask for one. But, that's just me. I had a sedative when I had an MRI, mainly because I'm a bit claustrophobic.
