My dad used to have tons of C-Rats in the garage. He'd get really annoyed with us because my brother and I loved the crackers, peanut butter, and chocolate in them. They were for the Boy Scouts. Dad always threatened to stop buying them, but always did anyway. Once, just the once, I got to go with him to the Army/Navy store and the (Navy/Marine) base excess store and get some stuff. Had a wonderful time.
Due to the Soy used in commercial bread, I have to make my own about every other day. Thank God for Bread making machines! Mine has a weird shape to the bread pan though, so I take it out just before the last rise and put it in a regular bread pan. That and the stove is cheaper to use than the electricity that the bread machine uses. I ought to learn how to make things like Hamburger and Hot-dog buns though. It'd be nice to have some around.
