35th wedding anniversary
  • 35 years ago yesterday, David and I said our "I do's". Seems very hard to believe that we have been married that long. We got in the truck in the morning and took off down the road, without really having a plan on where we were going. We drove down around Table Rock Lake and then thought about going into Branson, but headed into Arkansas instead. We ended up in Eureka Springs about lunch time. There are a lot of Victorian style bed and breakfast inns, old hotels that they have all decorated up, and lots of tourist type shops built on the steep hillsides in this old, artsy fartsy tourist town. The people who live and work here are different breed. Old hippies, eclectic artists, musicians, and those who follow other alternate lifestyles, (if you know what I mean).

There is a restaurant called Rogue's Manor there that we like, but we didn't realize until we walked up to the door, that they don't open until 5 pm. That was kind of disappointing.

Sweet Spring comes out of the hill right beside Rogue's Manor. Years ago, they constructed a rock wall around the spring.

We ended up eating in one of the hotel restaurants called the New Orleans. I asked the bartender to take our picture. Evidentally, photography was not his specialty.

I cropped it here and made it a little better. Doesn't David look happy?

We walked up and down the streets for a little while and checked out a few shops. When we headed back to the truck, we climbed these stairs that go between two of the streets. Actually, we even had to walk up another set of stairs between two other streets to get to the street that we had parked on. We definitely got our exercise today.

The whole town had a lot of flowers growing everywhere, in every nook and cranny.

It was a beautiful day and we had a nice, relaxing time (besides the stair climbing). We even stopped at a green house on the way home and bought a couple of ferns for my front porch. David asked me earlier if I thought we would make it another 35 years. I don't know if we will both live to be almost 90 or not. I guess it might be possible, but I kind of doubt it.
  • Again I say, you two are like book ends. ':)'
  • You two really *do* look happy together! [':)'] And the place you went looks so darned NICE!  (would LUV to go, sometime!...heheh...I just put another thing on my 'to do' list!)
