Myelogram?

Myelogram?
  • I'm scheduled for a myelogram to finally find out what is going on with my neck next Tuesday.  Can't have an MRI because I have little copper implants in my ears.  Has anyone here had one?  What to expect?  Something about having dye injected into my spinal column and being tipped around on an X-ray table doesn't sound fun.....
  • I've never had one myself, but my mother did many years ago.... she said it was just fine and didn't bother her at all. I think they have you lie flat after it is finished, altho I may be wrong, I've been out of the medical loop for a few years now (I used to work in a hospital). If you think you may want a sedative, talk to your doctor about that beforehand, sometimes people can be mildly sedated during the procedure, as well as a local anesthetic where they insert the needle. I'm always a bit worked up about procedures at times, so any time I can get a sedative, lol, I ask for one. But, that's just me. I had a sedative when I had an MRI, mainly because I'm a bit claustrophobic.
  • I hope everything goes well for you Dana!!
  • Thanks, Remali.  I'm usually pretty calm about things but have a thing about needles in my spine which is why I had 3 babies w/out epidurals!!  Ah well.....

    Thanks, Hunter ':)'  Won't be able to ride for a bit......
  • Yes, I've had one - eons ago and for my lower back. The procedure isn't a problem. They do make you stay down for quite a while. I ended up needing to 'go'. They got a bedpan (oh joy) because I wasn't supposed to get up. I ended up with the headache anyway. I thought for a while that it would never go away, but it did. Hope they find what's wrong and can do something to help you. {{hugs}}
