  • Read any good books lately?

I just finished "Sarah's Key". It is a sad story about the arrest of Jews by French police in 1942. It is a book that is hard to get off of your mind.
  • Hubby just got me a new book called "Horses Never Lie About Love." Haven't read it yet. Reading "Horse Boy" about a man who takes his autistic son to Mongolia to be cured by shamans..... weird.....
  • I remember hearing about that story a few years ago dana. I wonder if it worked. I just checked out a book by Mark Rashid yesterday, hopefully I'll find some time to start reading it.
  • I don't read anymore, haven't been able to since my late husband passed?
I had a collection of over 30 books by Donald Clayton Porter that I started to read again while we were in Atlanta this Spring. I got through the first 2 while we were away and when I got back the rest of the series that was stored in a closet was water damaged by the pipe problems. Grrr. I spent years collecting them all.[:@]

Anyway Pilot is a voracious reader. He just red the Steve Jobs book and thoroughly enjoyed it. He read The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo series? and said it was awesome.

  • Interesting, DH. I have always read a lot. Since David passed away, I can't even count how many books I read in a year. I mostly read at night. Don't sleep well. I'm not afraid of being alone, my mind just kicks on so I read until I'm senseless and can sleep. I suppose it's better than drinking myself senseless [8|] (which I wouldn't do).

Anyway, I've been reading/re-reading the classics in between the 'junk'. There's a reason why they're called classics.[&:] Some I've liked immensely, some were 'slow' reading but worthwhile in the end. I've only had one that I finally gave up on (The Iliad).

  • I just finished "The Eighty-Dollar Champion", a true story of the famous show jumper, Snowman.
  • Appy! I remember reading about Snowman in high school and have been looking for the book ever since but didn't know the title and didn't have any luck with "Snowman." Yay!!! Pretty amazing story! Durango-I gave up on "Wuthering Heights!" My youngest is reading "The Odyssey" for school and at 14, is not impressed...... I am a voracious reader also, when I have time but have to be careful because if I get sucked up in a good book, I have a hard time doing anything else!
  • I recently finished "Cujo", which I'd have to say isn't one of Stephen King's best. Now I'm in the middle of "The Thorn Birds" and I'm not sure what I think of it yet.
  • All my girls are into the "Hunger Games" series right now.....
