Monday Meds

for Tex are finally done.
That was a chore.
We did 2 extra doses because that was was left.
The first 2 we gave were less than successful.

Saturday I took Prize on his first real trail ride.
I have done 2 or 3 short ones on him.
It was an hour away at a boarding ranch.
Lots of activity and we rode with a group of 4 others.

He was perfect, not a bobble.
It was long and some rough trails.
He rode like butter and everyone thought he was adorable.
I could tell he was getting tired at the end.
He did so well I could have cried the whole way home.

The pastures have greened up with the almost 2 inches of rain we received.
Hopefully another shot tomorrow night.

Glad to hear that Prize is finally living up to his name. It truly is gratifying when they finally 'get it' and that's the reward for all the patience that got them there.

Still weeding the front garden... Oi. On the home stretch though. So many beautiful flowers exposed. Sadly there's a strip of weeds on the road side of the garden fence and the weed Wacker died. so have to figure that one out. May just use the hoe.

The veggies are coming along nicely. Looks like we might have Tennis Ball Lettuce, or some anyway. Who knows what or when the heat will kick in here. I picked this variety because Washington and Jefferson both grew it in their gardens. We shall see if hot, arid California will be a good place for it. The purple string beans seem to be in a rush to get somewhere! I can almost see them grow! Planted four poppy roots and only one grew. Doesn't look like the Holly Hocks are going to do anything either.

The neighbor's stallion has finally allowed me to touch him. Just a quick caress on the shoulder and he turns away. Wild as a March Hare!

Rained on Friday and Saturday, a bit, too. The flowers liked that. It's supposed to do the same end of this week.
