Techno Thursday
  • Yesterday morning we managed to convince Mr. Bull it was his idea to be penned.
He hopped into the awaiting trailer at exactly the appropriate moment.

We had a Hughesnet appointment between 11am and 2pm to upgrade our system.
We hurried back to the house to get breakfast and be ready.
At 3:00 we decided the appointment was not going to happen and went back to the cabin.

The filler on the water trough had quit and we replaced it.
There is an old much bigger trough that can be fixed.
A minuscule size project compared to what Stude is facing.
We started digging up the old water line in preparation.
As soon as we found the line T. Pilot's phone rang.

It was the technician saying he was still on his way.
Pilot gave him directions and said he would arrive in about an hour.
So we stopped our project and headed back to the house.

I did horse chores. cleaning stalls and readying feed and hay for when the horses decided to come in.
They are very slow in their response to being called up these days due to the spring grass.
I took care of Tonto's daily eye regime. Cleaning, medicating, photographing and updating Dr. Matt.

Still waiting and having a beverage on the front gallery, the tech finally showed up at 7 pm.
He left at 8:30 with still another "scheduled" appointment to attend.

I hope Face gets his techno issues resolved without much more waiting.
But I guess we all have time to wait things out these days.
Our official shelter in place order starts tomorrow.
It would seem the damage has already been done?

I will make a trip into town to check in at Help Center.
Also mail needs to be picked up and gas tank topped off.

We have a week of rain forecasted so outdoor work will have to be worked around precipitation if we get any.
A ride or two would be nice if the rain holds off.

Everyone be careful and enjoy your down time.

  • I finally got my techno turn. Had to go to the office to get laptop fixed. I was happy when the problem still existed when I arrived. I was afraid it would be a situation where it magically fixed itself during the drive. Anyway, was there about 2 hours and all is well again.

  • One of the occupations I have had is in Data Processing.  I was a Help Desk specialist back in the eighties and nineties.  My favourite comic character was the Wizard in Shoe.  In case you aren't familiar with the strip, he was a Help Desk tech.  However he dressed in a wizard's robe replete with pointy hat and wand with a star on the end.

Well, the water problem is fixed.  the break was worse than I thought.  The well wasn't really out of water.  It was running constantly and using up all the water.  As soon as I shut everything down the yard dried up.  Oh boy, not good.  Okay... so worked on getting everything back on track.  Dug up where I thought the break was and showed the issue to the boss.  She (finally) okayed the fix I wanted to do six years ago.  Put everything back together and plugged in the pump.  Forty pounds of pressure in ten minutes!  I have to shut down everything for the night and blow off  the pressure so the pipe can fully cure over night.  We are looking at two days of rain starting very early in the morning  so I really had to hump it to get this done.  Sore all over and glad it's largely done.

Still haven't moved the Royal (spartan trailer) up to Fawn Lodge.  Not looking forward to dealing with all this travel restriction stuff.  Looks like it will be next week.  Wish me luck with the revenue patrol.

I have to go get feed tomorrow.  Bea Bea and Socks are about out.  Oh joy I do so love driving in the rain.

Well, I do hope everyone has a great weekend, all things considered.

  • Laptop installed updates again Friday morning,. Once again, dead in the water.

Curbside pickup of wine yesterday. Tomorrow curbside groceries. Working on curbside list for Lowe's.

  • Hmmmm curbside wine.  Might check up on that.  Groceries are good here all but fresh and I think I can get some things at the locally owned pharmacy.  They have a cooler and sell local produce at one of their two locations.  I might as well do as my son suggested and plant my spinach in a planter and grow my own.  Can do that with lettuce, too.  I already grow basil but tomatoes do not seem to do well here.  Too many deer to have a decent outdoor garden.

Whisper  seems to be thriving lately.  She lost a little weight over the winter so I have added a complete senior to her feed.  She loves it.

Weather is supposed to be in the fifties and sixties the next few days.  I am not going to complain about that.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

  • Well... I went to Tractor Supply today and picked up mine and Jmebear's orders.  Started to leave and found the truck wasn't charging.  Decided to stop by O'Reily's and see if they could help me figure this issue out.  After testing Battery, Alternator, and Regulator we came to the conclusion the problem was the power supply wire to the main junction  Bonus fix, the starter on the truck now works from the key.

    Long, Loooong day.  Good night!
