healthy horse feeding
  • I found this site after seeing their booth at the rodeo that has a feeder product that supposed to eliminates sand colic and choke by slowing down the feeding process and making the horse focus on eating.

Its keeps the horses head in the bucket, and in doing so the horses dont spill my exspensive feed for one and two will greatly reduce the risks of sand ingestion and choke which long term will greatly reduce the risk of sand colic.

I was specultive at first but after I tried it out on a few of my trouble bays and they just sat there for 36 mins with their heads in the bucket eating slower and not spilling any feed. I could'nt believe it, its going to change the way horses eat.

if you care about your horses health watch the vidoes.

  • I'll have to watch when I get home.  Right now I soak my pellets because of choke episodes.  One of mine eats like a dang T-Rex/front-end-loader combination.
  • Yea It really does slow down any horses eating habits and some how it looks like thier calmer and more relaxed.
  • Most of the sand horses ingest comes from eating grass that grows in loose, sandy soil or from eating hay thrown onto sand.  While this looks like a potentially good product for horses that tend to bolt their food or be sloppy, I don't know that I buy that it will "greatly reduce the risk of sand colic".&nbsp';P'erhaps if you are dumping your feed onto the sandy ground or the horse is spilling quarts into the sand.......a rubber or plastic mat placed under your feed pan or bucket is much cheaper if that is the case.
