Fat? Or not?!

Fat? Or not?!
  • yesterday some people arrived to see our horses...
One man came near Canissa(my stallion) and started to talk how he is beautiful but fat...I just stood there and looked at my stallion, is he rally fat? Or that is jelousi(I don't know how to write this....) talking out of the people..l.

    What do you think??

    Here are some pictures...

  • i dont think hes fat i think hes gorgeous!
  • I agree, gorgeous, not fat at all!  The Lipizzans in the shows here are fat!
  • sheesh- NO he's not fat he's absolutely perfect!!  and anyway it's good to have a little extra in the cold winter!  Was this guy in perfect shape?  just curious ';-)'
  • Its actually hard to tell if he is fat from the pictures you provided.  From what I can see I would rank him as "moderately fleshy" on the scale.  However, closer-up pictures would work better - and having him stand like you would for conformation pics.
  • Don't be offended by what people say.  Sometimes it's helpful to be criticized.  Sometimes it hurts.  If you stick around here (AND YOU HAVE TO!!! [':)'] ) someone will eventually  say something about your horse that will hurt your feelings.   Have you ever seen horses that belong to that man?  Some people like leaner horses.
I took my horse in for a lesson and the trainer said she wanted another 100 pounds on him AT LEAST.  I didn't realize he was underweight and felt sort of bad but she explained what she meant and suggested Senior feed.  Now he looks like a butterball but it's winter.  And he only gets a VERY little!  Plus all you can eat hay.
  • thank you for advice, that man don't even have horses, I know he maybe looks little bit fleshy but that are only muscles, we train him every day, and lipizzans are small horses with short legs and strong bones so he maybe seems fat to some people who are used to tall and thin horses...
  • I think your horse looks perfectly beautiful and healthy.  I like a little meat on the bones.  My vet likes to see a little bit of ribs.  He thinks my horses are fat.  I kindly tell him they aren't fat, just husky kids!  If your horse is in training everyday as you say, I would say don't worry about it.  Besides, you said this guy didn't have horses.  What does he know anyway?!
  • thank you!!
  • This horse is not fat... he has the same body shape as andies, lusties, and lippies that rounder barrel shape tapering in to a smooth straighter topline.  Very typical of the breed...he looks fine the man was not used to seeing that breed type.
  • Our farrier is originally from Texas and he says ALL horses here in South Carolina are fat! Of course, he has a grin on his face when he says it! When we were boarding our horses his comment caused a lot of issues as the facility owners took him seriously and were quite offended! Oh the DRAMAS when boarding!
