Hybrid Horsemanship
  • anyone ever hear of this guy?  He's got a TON of videos on YouTube.  I thought some of what he did was pretty neat.

  • Endo has been around for quite some time and has been the subject of many controversial threads on different forums.   Very few reasons I can see to lay a horse down but on an old thread it was disclosed that he applied pressure to the vagus nerve to do so (this is not coming from Endo himself, who will not reveal his tricks for free).  If you know anything about the vagus nerve, it is not something anyone but a vet should be playing around with.

Yeah, the laying them down thing seemed like it could stir up a bit of controversy.  He got results pretty quickly though (I guess you can get results with a 2x4 though too...just 'cause it's fast doesn't mean it's a good idea.)  the first video I watched he was dealing with a rearing horse... which he did not lay down.  I thought he did a good job of explaining what he was doing and why.  I also saw one of him teaching a horse to cross water.  I guess I didn't really notice him touching any of the horses to get them to lay down.  I'll have to watch again and look this time.
  • I don´t like his methods at all. To me it seems too aggresive, he´s really breaking the horses, when I saw his "TAP method" on youtube video first time, it made me sick. The horse can´t do anything to express pain or discomfort until it gives up the fight. Have you ever seen some documentary about lions hunting? Remember the zebra fighting for its life, being pulled down on the groud and then killed? I think the tapped horses feel the same and I would never ever want my horse to percieve me as a predator and threat.

There are so many other ways of working with problematic horses, and it usually takes much more time to succeed - but in horse training quickly doesn´t mean gently, friendly or naturally.

And I´m really really crossed because the name "hybrid horsemanship". In the Czech republic once you say you´re a horseman, many people think you use such a violent methods, which in my oppinion have nothing to do with the true natural horsemanship.
