New bay baby...update
• Eddie's Bay Rose is his name and this morning I couldn't even get within 3 feet of this little guy before he would flinch and those long legs would spin out.  He will be a year old in April.  Worked with him this morning for about 30 minutes and roped him then worked on just letting me touch him and when I was able too I eased the rope over his head and let him alone for about 2 hours.  Went back out and roundpenned him for a short time and low and behold the light came on and he decided that letting me touch his shoulders and neck was pretty good so long as I didnt' move too fast.  I can't even tell yuns how many times I been out there since just walk in and rub on his shoulders, neck and just a bit ago I found what he really likes and is the only way I can touch his head so far but you should see how low his head goes and how relaxed he gets!  Too funny.  He's still stand offish but I think in a couple more days he will be following me around the pen.  I'm not trying to halter him or anything just yet, which I think is whats confusing him, he expects it and a fight but I just walk in pet him and walk out.  He has such a bewildered look on his little face!  I tell ya what though he is going to be way taller than I was wanting and it wouldn't suprize me if he hits 16 hds.  But what a baby doll head he has and when he gets cleaned up and clippered Wow will he be pretty.  Thinking on calling him either Brago or Eddie.

• What a nice looking guy! Bet you'll have him following you around in no time! Doesn't seem to be too bothered by you taking pictures.
• What a cutie!  My Cody was terrified of me when we first got him, would flee to the far side of the pen and try to jump out but after a week of us just going out, giving him carrots, scratching on him, sitting there reading, he's never looked back and follows us around like a dog!

Can't wait to see him as he grows.  Lucky he's got you!
• Awwwww.  Eddie's Bay Rose is a sweet-looking animal!  (Yes...they are lucky they found YOU!) You'll have him eating out of your pockets in no time!
Dana...you make me jealous!  Sure wish we could have gone with YOU today!  (Good Heavens...riding along a BEACH, and then into the waves?)  No beaches around here!
Congrats to your youngins for winning, yesterday! (I *thought* you said second place, but this note is covering it up, darnit!)  I think that is SOOOO grand![':D'] (I remember when you got Cody, and how terrified he was of you!)

• Ok so his name is, drum roll please...Drago!  I called him Eddie this morning and then this afternoon I attempted Brago and then guess what pops into my mind, McClintock.  Looked down at his head, nearly touching the ground since I'm scratching his ears, and it just fit.  So little Drago is moving along in leaps and bounds.  This afternoon he started to meet me at the fence, but after about 6 steps stopped and waited for me.  Put the halter on without any trouble what so ever and worked on throwing the rope over his back and at first he really exploded sideways but when he figured it out (didn't take long either) he dropped that little head and was soo relaxed.  You guys realize that his hindend is nearly as tall as Axle?!  Mercy he's going to be big.  He's drinking really well now compared to when he first came home and finally discovered the mineral block in the corner.  Caught him with eyes closed just licking away this morning.  LOL  Oh and his registered name (I had it wrong) is actually TMCR Eddie Roses Bay.
• Well...in that case...we'll have to welcome TMCR Eddie Roses Bay into our 'folds'!  ':)'  T'wuz a pretty nice day here, for a change.  Made it all the way up to 50* today!  (Supposed to be even nicer, Thursday, AND I'M HOME!  YAY!)
Wednesday I have an appointment with my dermatologist, and tomorrow is Momma Day! (Next week the brother takes her in for her new uppers!) I recommended that they have her name put inside the plates this time.  Don't know how they do it, but I understand the 'engraving' will cause a 'sore spot.'  Hope they can get the 'tape that's not a tape' kind of thing...
Happy Valentines to All Y'all!
• Ok so today was day 4 for this little guy.  Did a little online today with him and he did really well.  Is a bit reactive for the very first intro to something new, but then seems to comprehend what is asked pretty quickly.  Ended with some desensitzing and let him stand tied for the first time.  Here is the video link ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYNbNJTd2bw  LOL  This is the most fun I've had in a long time!  Compared to the last few colts we've halter broke/gentled this guy is super! ...so far...[';)']

Or for those who just like some pics

• LOLOL...you call him 'the little guy???'  (BTW...I LOVE the way he *doesn't* throw up his head at every little move!)  I'd say this 'lil guy' has your number!  He KNOWS so long as you are around...he won't get hurt!  I WAS impressed when he didn't move with your 'noisy' duster, tho...
• What a purdy and lucky little guy!!  Great job trainer!!! [':D']
• Drago loaded for the first time the other day and off we went to Phils barn.  I had been leading him up to the trailer to sniff, a little pressure to come forward and as soon as he would even lean forward I let the pressure off.  Each time I did it I only asked for one foot more than the last time over the course of several days.  Did super, no panic once inside and tied.  The divider didn't even bother him when it banged closed.

Introduced him to clippers, didn't clip him just rubbed it on his nose while on and along his bridle path.  It was almost comical to watch him go from "what's that new thing" to "I want it I want it!"  Same thing as the trailer, I just put it up for him to sniff and once his nose touched it I took it away.  He got faster and faster about getting his nose to it till he was leaning into it and wanting to lip it.  Don't think I'll have much trouble next time around.  Worked on picking up his feet and that was about it as I still had two mares to work with so back in the trailer.

Once we got home I turned him out in a bigger lot by himself for a few hours since it was so nice out and I knew I could be there to watch him.  Thought I might have trouble catching him, but he suprized me and met me at the gate.  Spring must be on the way, he's shedding like crazy but look how his shines dispite all that dirt!  LOL  I think he has grown a few inches since he's been here.  Phil says he could see a big difference in build as he starts to fill out.  Post more as I can.
