why my first choise is an arabian (UPDATE)
  • Rather mesmerizing. They are very special animals.  I love how there were so many of them running all around together!  WOW!
  • The video highlighted the State run breeding farms.
They auction off horses every yr.
Alot of people know the story of General Patton and the
Lippazon horses.  Few know that he also saved 1500
arabians from poland during the 2nd WW.   He had some of
the Best shipped to the US for the Calvery Remount herds.

If you noticed in the video,  when they were showing the
Registration book they pointed out the stallion OFIR.   He was
the half brother to Bay Abi of the Shelia Varian Arabians.
(their was also an americian Ofir AHA 8181, not the same horse,
the polish Ofir never left Poland)   The Americian Ofir was in the Dams
side of Regal Charm.   And Ofir Aha 8181  has quite a history of his own
    in the racing history.

The Mare (Regal Charm)that I owned and her filly Adaya Bint Kasar)
(Texasgal now the owner) was straight Varian on her sires side.  (polish bloodlines.)    The Stallion I owned,  Black Kasar, was CMK. (Black was also an Arabian Foundation horse)
One of the horses in his ancestry was a stallion owned by the Kellogg
Ranch ,  who was  R.Valentinos favorite horse in the  desert movies
    he starred in.

    Ok  enough history lessons.   LOL.

  • You have so much knowledge about the breed!  Thanks for the mini-lesson.  I wasn't sure why they were pointing to the registry.
  • I made a mistake as to which Ofir was Bay Abi's half brother
It was the American Ofir AHA 8181.   Not the Polish Ofir.
The sire was the same but the dams were different.

I am repeating this from memory.,   I sent all my research to
    Texasgal with the shipper.

That Golden Buckeye Card  the state sent might come in
handi after all  with this senior moment.  LOL

  • You know SC - I think anytime you mention Regal Charm you should be required to post photos of her.  [';)']
  • here is a link:   Texasgal put this up on utube
Regal Charm and Adaya (1 day old).  The first ones
I took and the later ones are in texas.   Texasgal would
go on trails and let adaya follow along.

  • here is one Hunter would like
  • She is so pretty!  I think bay is my favorite color for arabians.
  • Thanks JC.    She is one of those horses that touch your soul
and stays in your memory forever.
  • Here is some more info on the American Ofir
another in the pedigree of Charm on her dams side

(Note the Winning times)  after the length of the races on the first line.
the horses are in the second line showing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Okay, here is the info from the first chart book.

Arabian racing debuted in November 1959 and during 1959/1960, there were a total of 5 races.  As I am taking a closer look at these races, they are marked as "e" which means exhibition...though there are quite a few other "e" races after these.  But, since these were the first 5, it would make sense these are the ones you are thinking of.

    November 11, 1959 - Laurel, 2-1/2 miles, 5:05 1/5
    Ofir, Michael, Beldarra

    November 26, 1959 - Pimlico, 2-1/2 miles, 5:03 1/5
    Ofir, Al-Marah Ibn Indraff, Beldarra

    January 15, 1960 - Tropical Park, 2-1/2 miles, 4:51 4/5
    Michael, Ofir, Al-Marah Rudbalik

    August 1, 1960 - Arlington, 2-1/2 miles, 4:57 2/5
    Michael, Afmaar, Khali

    September 5, 1960 - MD St. Fairgrounds, 2-9/16 miles, 5:11 1/5
    The Electrician, Khali, Afmaar

In looking at the individual record for Ofir, it shows a career total starts of 3.
