The Hackneys are here! The Hackneys are here!
  • LOL, yes the girls arrived today in style!  Gilliespie Transport arrived and dropped them off at the front gate.  Riverdance and Condessa were really amazed where they came to.  I think the girls really like Fireworks Farm, my friend Mary's place.  When I finally get corrals up here at George's place I can bring them home.  We'll see what happens.

    Anyway, to the pictures!

Condessa after getting off the trailer and waiting (rather impatiently) for Riverdance.

Riverdance just after exiting the trailer.  She was a bit anxious during the trip.  However arrived none the worse for the wear.

The long walk down the driveway of Fireworks Farm.

We walked them around the back paddock so that they knew their boundries.

Introductions for Condessa to the herd.

Introductions for Riverdance to the Herd.  The alpha mare got cheeky and River thumped her!  It was really funny!

A short video of the girls when we released them finally in the paddock.

Edit: well I guess the video didn't work.  Sorry about that.  It will work if you bring it up in the album:

    Today was a good day!

    I HAVE HORSES AGAIN!!
  • Whoo Hoo!!  If I knew how to find smilies that did cartwheels, they'd be on here!!!!

Congratulations ':)'  Riverdance looks like she's an easy keeper ':)'

    Merry Christmas to you!!!

  • Yowzer!  BIG!!  And gorgeous! VERY heartwarming and a wonderful Christmas story indeed!!!  Can't wait to hear about life with Contessa and Riverdance!
  •

Great news, Stude.  The girls look good.  Do they drive? Double? Sure look like a promising pair as they head away from the camera.  I know you are a happy man.

  • Yes! Gorgeous!! Congratulations!!!
  • Wow! They are beautiful! Can't wait to see them all sleeked out in the summer taking you for a drive!
  • I do plan on driving them as a pair to a Fore-cart (kind of like a horse-drawn ATV -- farm equipment).  If I can build a bit of confidence on Condessa's part they'd make a really nice tandem.  Problem is, Riverdance is the bold one.

Rumour has it that Riverdance was once in training with (multiple World Champion in Combined Driving) Bill Long.  However, I haven't been able to verify that.  I do hope it's true.  If so, she will have had an excellent start.

The fellow who imported her from Argentina, Jim Laird, had four siblings of which Riverdance was one.  His plan was to drive them to one of his Road Coaches.  Sadly, it never happened.  Instead she went to UC Fresno and then (very happily) to me.  Thankfully, she's young enough to be useful for many years.  I might get a few years out of Condessa, but at nineteen, I'm not holding my breath.  Still, they're both in good health and as can be seen, good flesh (LOL).
  • River is VERY pretty. Looks like she's nicely put together. Congrats!
