I'm new here so I'd like to show y'all my horses.

  • I ride train and breed Kentucky Natural Gaited horses and have done so for a lot more years than a lady would like to admit to !    Currently I just own two horses because I sold my other mare recently due to some medical pr4oblems I'm having.  The horses I own now are decended from a mare I bought as a young girl over 32 years ago. They have a really special place in my heart.

The first is of my 14 year old mare, Little Sky Dancer. Dancer is the comedian and prankster of the farm, constantly stealing my hubby's hat if he wears it into the barn or stealing the brushes if I lay them within reach while grooming her. She's just a big rotten brat !  LOL!  Here's the picture of her that we have on the KNGHA  website's  Mare Showcase.

This is one of her expressing her opinion of a friend's round penning technique. This girl has a mind of her own but a heart of gold.

Here' she is with her very first ribbon. She's only been shown once against very seasoned show horses but still managed to get a fourth place in Trail Pleasure Mares in a rather large class too . I don't know who was proudest , me or her . LOL!

This is my 7 year old Kentucky Natural Gaited stallion, Mystery Warrior. He's my trail buddy a he was a real consistant winner in the show ring back when we were showing a couple of years ago. His best classes are Speed Racking, Style Racking and Trail Pleasure but he has won several times in Country Pleasure as well.
Mystery as a 2 year old.

Mystery giving his "magestic look " LOL! Such a ham.

Mystery saying ,"Hurry mom ! I gotta go pee ! "

  • Nice looking horses!!!!  Any Youtube videos of your boy speed racking?  That's always amazing.  You don't show now?  Who showed your mare?  Hopefully you'll get to get back in there!
  • Hi Hunterseat !  Thanks for the comment. No I don't have any of him speed racking on you tube yet. I've been sidelined with a back injury from a car wreck back in December 2010 so I haven't had a chance to make one this year like I wanted to. I'm not showing this year due to my back injury. I was told by my doctor that I'd never ride again but I have been riding some just 5-6 mile rides not the 15-20 mile rides like I used to do. The ribbon that Dancer won was from 2009 in the only class she was in. I'm hoping to start showing again next year after I have my back surgery and after I get the shunt in my brain fixed as well. I've had two brain surgeries in addition to the back injury so it's slowed down my horse show plans these last two years so I'm anxious to get started again. I've even done gaited barrel racing on my stallion. It's like regular barrel racing except you have to gait only, no gallop , no loping either. If you break out of your gait it's a 5 second penalty just like if you knock down a barrel. I had never even ridden Mystery in a barrel pattern but I entered him on a spur of the moment whim. After signing up for the class I took him out into the camping area and worked on doing real fast tight turns at a rack for about 10 minutes before the class started. Out of almost 20 horses was managed to come in fourth with a 5 second penalty for breaking gait. Without the penalty we would've won but I dropped my reins and he broke gait so it was my fault instead of his. I was excited to just get 4th !

Here's a video of Mystery doing a very slow rack while my son Kevin skateboards with him. Mystery's not afraid of anything so far and loves to pull my son around on his skateboard. He'll even push him with his nose if Kevin sits down on the board !  Goofy horse !   If you'll listen to the footfall cadence you will here him miss a step in there. He sometimes does that when he's pulling Kevin.

Here Mstery is with a few of his ribbons from the 3 shows he was in during the 2009 season . He won several other blue ribbons that aren't in this picture.

Thanks !  He was so easy to train. He just acceoted everything that we asked him to do. I didn't even teach him to pull Kevin. I was just out riding one day and Kevin came up the road to meet us and when Kevin got tired of powering along on his own he just reached out and grabbed the saddle ring before I could stop him. Thankfully Mystery just kept on going like it was the most ordinary thing in the world for a horse to pull a skateboarder. Thank God he was a steady boy instead of a silly crazy stud like some buddies of mine have! He would've been kicked over the moon. He's just an easy going horse.
  • beautiful ':D' love the video...
  • Thanks a lot ! He's a very sweet boy and a joy to have around.
