What... How.... Help...?
  • Ok so I need to know what exersizes iI can do to get myself stronger in the saddle. My english trainer said that I need to do it. It is true though I cant go around the ring more that a lap and a half in a haf-seat or standing, or toutching my chin to my horses neck. I can post just fine for a few laps but then the outside of my left outside calf just turns to fire and hurts really bad... so basicly how can i get stronger in the saddle and get my calf to stop hurting...?

  • I would stretch out your achilles tendons (backs of your calves) before getting on, do as much walking around campus as possible and practice doing some squats or plies on the ground while you're brushing your teeth, studying, whenever you can stay in one place and exercise those legs, lifting your body weight up and down.  Goodluck!
  • I do this one alot and it helps a ton.

Stand on a stair with just the balls of your feet on the stair- then raise and lower your heels.  It will stretch and strengthen.  Ideally you should get at least 6 inches in range from dropping your heals way down to when you are standing with your heals lifted (like you have stiletto heels on).
