Lunch
  • I had homemade bread (that I made yesterday), salmon (that I vacuum-pack froze last Saturday) and yellow crookneck squash (that someone brought to church from their garden today). Yum!

Next weekend I'm going to can some vegetables. My daughter and granddaughter are coming to watch & help. Jessica remembers me canning when she was little but says she can't remember how I did it and she's wanting to learn. Should be fun!

Now to go out and paint. It has made it to 70* and there are just fluffy clouds out there now - doesn't look like rain.
  • Mmm sounds yummy.
We skipped breakfast before church so we had brunch after.
French toast with bananas and carmel sauce and bacon.
  • Today for lunch I snacked.  Broke open a military meal.  yuck, really.  I didn't touch the main course.  I'll save it for a really desperate day!
  • Hmm. I've heard that MREs are OK and I've heard that they're nasty. I suppose it depends upon how hungry you are...
  • My dad used to have tons of C-Rats in the garage.  He'd get really annoyed with us because my brother and I loved the crackers, peanut butter, and chocolate in them.  They were for the Boy Scouts.  Dad always threatened to stop buying them, but always did anyway.  Once, just the once, I got to go with him to the Army/Navy store and the (Navy/Marine) base excess store and get some stuff.  Had a wonderful time.

Due to the Soy used in commercial bread, I have to make my own about every other day.  Thank God for Bread making machines!  Mine has a weird shape to the bread pan though, so I take it out just before the last rise and put it in a regular bread pan.  That and the stove is cheaper to use than the electricity that the bread machine uses.  I ought to learn how to make things like Hamburger and Hot-dog buns though.  It'd be nice to have some around.
  • Those buns are just regular roll dough. You have to know how to shape them, though. I've been shown but never could quite make it come out correctly. [>:]
