Friday A Fine
  • shower to start the morning.
It sounded heavy but was short
Maybe a quarter inch at most but much needed.

    Changes plans to staying inside.
A friend is coming by. She likes to hold a horse or two while I trim.
She will pitch in and do any other chores also.
Muddiness cancels trimming today so we will find another activity.

I hope everyone has a fine Friday!
  • Wife went to Kansas City this past week for two weeks to help her sister whose husband just had a triple bypass a couple weeks ago, He is doing fine, all things considered.

Last Spring we had to put a cat down due to a very aggressive  cancerous tumor. In July we adopted two kittens to handle the outside rodents. They were spayed and neutered yesterday. They are not real happy right now. Not sure handling two recovering cats solo is going to be fun. Years ago we had two female kittens spayed and neither I nor the wife have any recollection of going thru that experience. I don't think the kittens will be wearing their cones of shame for 10-14 days as I have been instructed.

Couple years ago a neighbor who had given permission to have horse trails on his property put it up for sale. So at that point I quit maintaining them as I didn't want to put the effort in and the new owners deny us access. The owners are allowing us access so today (Saturday) I plan to walk the trail and get it back in horse riding shape. Two years of weather has probably created some issues.

Had 20 round bales delivered a few weeks back. That will get us thru the winter. Due to the drought here my hay guy had called and said he couldn't provide us hay this year. However, we did get some decent rain in August and he was able to come thru with hay. Still need to find someone with square bales. I hate shopping for hay.

  • Worked the old trail yesterday and got befuddled. Nature can change a lot in a couple years. There is a property marker that the trail goes by and you would go straight and an old fence would remain on your right. However, tt kept ending up on my left. I would reroute and kept coming across another old fence that linked up with the fence. Figured out a good route and have a section I need to cut the old fence out as it lays on the ground . I did get back on the original trail as I saw holes filled with rocks, which I would have done. Then a section that was in good shape as the deer are using it. I am going to have to mark the trees so I don't get lost with the horses. I hope to take Fancy on it today after I finish things up. Where I messed up and changed the route she will let me know about it.  Holes and barbed wire are why we do not head off into the woods unless it is a known and checked path.
