Cribbing... Opinions and/or Ways of Stopping It
  • My new Arab, Alfie, has a habit of cribbing the moment you walk away from his 14×14 box stall. We tried a Miracle Collar, but the leather piece that goes on the bottom of the neck was stabbing him in the throat, so we took it off within the first 2 minutes, because he could only stretch his neck out so it was straight. We put dish soap on the stall bars to keep him from cribbing. It worked for the first 2 days, then he realized it was the "non-toxic" soap that he could eat. I need help. I've read that cribbing isn't a threat to their health, but I'd like to know what you think I should do.
  • Old timers used to say copper deficiency was the cause of cribbing. We just covered everything cribb-able in metal.

  • Alfie cribs on metal, wood, you name it. On his stall door, there are metal bars from the middle of his neck up, and so thats where he gets most of his cribbing time in.
