We are looking at passing our oldest mare, Gizzy, on to a family with limited horse experience. The family has their own acreage and their kids (8 and 10) are in riding lessons, so they have local connections to horsey people. She is going with all her tack, but I would really like to include a good, down-to-earth book that explains a broad area of practical horse keeping. From feed, to hoof care, to saddle fit. Any recommendations?
