what color will this baby be?
  • I have a mare that is black/dark bay and she may have bred with a gray QH. any ideas on what color the baby will be? Thanks!
  • Grey is a strong genetic factor and will have a higher percentage of greys in most breeds. With our many years of breeding experience behind us though, unless you know more about their specific genetic traits, we would offer a 50/50 for a grey or bay.

as the mare is black   dark bay  I would say she carries  dominate bay genes   (both)

so I would say   the odds are   75%bay

I will see if I can find that color chart,   It is from the U.Davis in california.
